Second Release Candidate for Spring Security 3.1.0
Has been announced the second RC of Spring Security 3.1.0. This release candidate will upgrade OpenID4Java to version 0.9.6, as well as introduce additional support for proxy tickets’ standard convention and for Enum in Secured Annotation. The new release will introduce significant improvement in handling errors occurring during Active Directory authentication as well.
Recruitment Campaign of Indigo 500
Following the Indigo simultaneous release about two months ago Eclipse launched a recruitment campaign “Indigo 500” with the aim of recruiting 500 new “friends of Eclipse” till July 31. Becoming one of the Indigo 500 you’ll get early access to Eclipse’s download server, which means you can access the final Indigo release before it becomes available for the rest of the community. To recruit and become one of Eclipse’s 500 friends, donate at least $35 to the Eclipse Foundation.
Moving Cloudy Akka Cluster Support to Akka 2.0
The announced move of Cloudy Akka Cluster Support into Akka OSS will be released together with Akka 2.0 version this summer. Among other offers of this new version are actor mailboxes, Event Sourcing and automatic fail-over upon node crash with automatic replication.
Release of Tasktop 2.0.1
The announced new maintenance release of Tasktop2.0.1offers improved HP ALM Connection Dialogue, allowing users to retrieve the list of projects and domains they can connect to, thus easing the creation of new task repositories. There will also be no need of installing Java for Visual Studio before using Tasktop, as it will be included on default; and also queries will become available for editing from within Visual Studio.
Graduate Program Announced by VMware
This Graduate Fellowship Program for 2012 was announced by VM for two full-time, currently enrolled Ph.D students doing research "related to business interests of VMware." The given examples include cloud computing and core machine virtualization. The Fellowship offers a cash award that will cover 12-month stipend and tuition, as well as the reward recipients will be granted in form of preference, when time comes for full-time opportunities. Fellowship will start around September 2012, and the deadline for submitting an application is October 14, 2011.
